Are we going to go through with that?

With the amount of pool tables we have now, it is a drag for people to stop by when they are all filled up...especially right now when we have 1 table. And its nice to call and see if anyone is there at all.

We could have a club meeting once and a while to discuss such things.

I think it is a great idea.

I propose securing a google talk phone number that will be a permanent 612 area code phone number so that it can be printed on Club business cards, website, and tournament promotional literature. We then get a super cheap prepaid cell phone with 100 minutes on it and have the google number forwarded to the cell. This way, if the phone rings in the club someone can answer. If not and someone is looking for a game, the voice message can be emailed to a member list of those who might want to head to the club to meet the caller to play. The voice message can also be transcribed by google into text, or the voice mail can be listened to as an mp3 on the computer.

The cell phone could be tethered to a charging station with signage that it was for incoming calls only. I think something like that might work.
Thanks,

Yes lets get the phone for the club. Are either of you guys ( Mike or Dave) willing to go ahead and set it up? If not that's ok but I wouldn't get to it until after the tournament sometime.Of course any reasonable start up cost will be paid by the club. I think it's a great idea.

True. Maybe it would be easier to simply get an internet connection. Could still be used to contact club for what's going on but additional benefit of web access while at the club. Also, can anyone say "Streaming" from the 3-Cushion tournament?

We should look into the Introductory offers some of them are as low as $30.00 per month. I have a Wireless router (N) that i would be willing to donate.

I just picked up a coupon today for Qwest internet/phone combo for $37/month.

This is a residential rate, but I wonder if they'd do that price for the club. There is a living room upstairs. We could tell them that Jayme lives there.

Anyone tried streaming with DSL? just a thought ........ If we are going to potentially make a internet move lets make the choice that will best suit our needs all around.

What do you guys think about the club taking a very small rake from the poker games pot just enough to cover whatever monthly costs we have. (if we go through with a hook up)? and that would be discreet as possible from outside players
