Orbit Gum - "Green" Wrappers?

Tonight at pool leagues at Biff's, the Pool Master told me that the wrapper on the gum I offered him was chewable. I called out B.S. so he tossed the stick of gum still wrapped into his mouth. I watched closely for 2 minutes and didn't see him palm the sloppy piece of paper. I'm not going to try it myself. Has anyone heard of (or fallen for) this gummy magic stick trick?

It seems like he's laid the groundwork for some sort of practical joke. What's next, a microwave burrito still in the plastic? Is he going to have me microwave an egg next?

I used to do that with Trident, the paper wrappers. It was strange at first but the paper disappears after a minute or so, you can't even tell. I know it isn't a big deal to simply remove the paper wrapper but it's funny to see the look on peoples faces.
