jeffleek wrote:Yes! It is suppose to work that way. But, as we all know, the vendor's directors really do not know how most of their players will compete with the rest of the state. That is why Wayne tried to implement the "players ranking players" so if someone saw some people not quite in the proper division they could notify him and he would try to take care of it. Wayne is no longer doing that so now that burden will fall on Craig and Cheryl. So, it could be up to us to look through these and call Cheryl at d&r and let her know. Also, I think because it is the moma, the moma list that is on d&r's site will have to be used in conjunction with any other list for those that have never played in the moma tourny. Jeff Knies

I think the part of "really do not konw how most of their players will compete..." I would expect at very least they look at the MOMA list for master players. I think it would take about 10 minutes to put an excel spreadsheet together to do validation off of their own list.

You're letting them off too easy. Players ranking players is great in theory but very much a cop out if its to take the place of their due diligence. Players think that if someone beats them, they belong in a higher bracket, TD's should be doing the validation and standing by it.

It's all about responsibility - directors and players.

I am wondering if the MOMA list has been updated because a couple of players on the Terminators team asked to get moved down because they haven't done well in masters. They were told that they were lowered back down to AA so I am wondering if that was the case with some of the other players listed on this post as well. Even though I am shooting on a team for MOMA I am not sure this was a good idea letting two masters shoot on a AA team. Think of the teams out there that have five AA players and have played together for years now other teams get to pick up two masters players. Is this why the numbers are down this year?

A lot of players I know are going to the CR's tournament. I'm not sure if they are trying to kill MOMA or not but they sure are doing a good job by having another tournament the same weekend.

I met the new DNR director this past weekend. I believe his name is Tim Brown. He seems like a good guy. He and Cheryl will be running MOMA this year.

I guess they're going to have MOMA in Rochester at the Graham Arena next year. This will cost a lot less, which means more money for the payouts. I also suggested to bring back the Master team division somehow. Maybe combine Masters and AA but the Masters have to spot a few balls a round. I'd prefer a flat spot instead of every team getting their own handicap like last year at DNR.

TCo, Agreed. It should take no time at all to check those rankings.

I'm not letting them off easy! "Players ranking players"...............It will work if "players" will call the TD and tell them they need to re-look at their placements. TDs should do the placements.......but they do need some help now and than.

Brian, I think the list has been updated.
I know Wayne's reasoning was to get more teams into the upper. He felt if some of the power teams had to split up more teams would be formed with the better A and many of the AA players.........................I guess that did not work! I am not sure why the turn-out is so low.

MN, I think having another big tourny that same weekend is just not a good idea.................for MOMA. I guess if they only get a handful of teams for theirs than something else is going on. I'm sure they will get their teams. Maybe many of those were not going to moma anyway. Either way, it could have been put on another weekend! JLK

Well, if they can't catch a simple typo like "Couch" instead of "Coach" I don't have high hopes of them checking rankings much less keeping them accurate and current.

I don't know Mike. I heard they were bringing in some sort of "lounger" for some team. Sounds like they needed to rest between matches!!

Looks like all divisions have some questionable teams: B Division -
Spank the Monkey - 1 AA player, 3 A players
Ditto's - 4 A players
Lefty's Outlaws - 4 A players
Supremecy - same team that took 5th last year and was according to the MOMA list should have been bumped
