Treasure Island Tournament

Yay, my team finished 2nd in the recently completed MPA/MN ACS Tournament at Treasure Island.

What a beautiful venue. Lots of space around the tables and a much appreciated sound system.

Kudos to John Stitch for running a smooth tournament. The way he called the matches was a bit different then what I'm used to but it seemed to work better then the "Traditional way" of calling 1 winners side, then 2 on the 1 loss side. Bottom line is I liked it!

Also what a great idea John had in paying out 25% of the field. In the "C" Team division there was 35 teams. Pretty hard to payout 25% of the field. So he paid the top 8, then had a single elimination mini tourney with the 9/12th finishers and one of the them got in the cash. Way to go to John to do everything to help the players and the payouts.

Thanks for the kudos - I appreciate it. I would also like to thank you guys - the pool players - for making this event successful. Without your support I couldn't make it happen. It's YOU who makes it a successful tournament. And thanks to Scott Norberg for coming into my life and making my job of running tournaments easier and upscale. His computer knowledge has brought the MPA into the lead as far as tournament advancement and technology goes. He's not only a very computer knowledgeable person, but a good friend.
A small correction: there were 34 teams. After watching a match in the first round, I chose to quietly disqualify a team from the tournament because they weren't C players and they would have robbed this tournament. I did, however, smooth the situation by refunding them both their entry fee and their sanction money. I think their intentions weren't to rob the tournament, but to just be "overly" competitive against their competition. I wasn't going to allow that, and they were taken out of the tournament. Nothing more needs to be said about it.
Finally, congratulations on your second place finish, and thanks for playing!
