You know I can't figure out why this thing isn't damn near filled up and forcing jimmy to add an extra day for jimmy to take on challengers. I probably stand the least amount of chance of anyone in this but I still signed up. This tourny is a great idea and there should be an overwhelming showering of support from MN pool players. All I ever here is talk about how there's no good tournaments anymore. Well here is a great tourny for everyone in the twin cities that has ever played a game of one hole. Not only should the players be supporting but so should the other billiard establishments. Pool is a dying sport and unless pool halls and leagues start working together then things will continue to head south. Let's all start right now with this tournament. If we can make this successful then maybe we can start this ball rolling in the right direction. I will personally start by encuraging the younger players to get into this. I will sponsor 2 players under 21 that love pool and know how to play 1pocket. Tell every young player you know to send me an email to mrbowhunting@yahoo.com and a tell me why I should choose them. I also challenge anyone else to do the same for younger players.

Thanks

Most people do not play pool in the when its nice out. It's confusing why pool halls try to start tournaments in the summer instead of waiting until cold weather...

I am glad that this is going on and enjoyed going and watching the matches last night. I thought that both players did well against Jimmy and it was great to see some of the good shots that were made by all 3 players.

I am also glad to be able to see something new being tried (besides 8-ball and 9-ball). I think that one pocket is a great game for all pool players to learn and it will definitely help your 8-ball and 9-ball games learning the banks, safety shots, etc, etc.

Buzz Killington, you gotta come inside sometime. Plus, didn´t you win the ten ball tournament last Tuesday?

Dustin Morris is signed up for next week. Jim Fraser wants to play but needs to figure out a time when he's not at the golf course. Same with Mario, except he needs to get a night out of the kitchen at the hot 1029. Where's Gilligan? He should want to play.

I did show up on Tuesday and there were 5 people total.

Lets assume you need 10-15 people on average to sustain a weekly tournament. Should a struggling pool hall try to start a new tournament in the summer when most players are on the off season? Chance of failure is much higher than starting it in the fall. I've seen many tournaments try to start in the summer and fail. Yes, people SHOULD support pool (and I do, where was everyone last tuesday?), but we also need a dose of pragmatism when it comes to developing pool.

Trying is better than not trying at all. I have one pocket matches on tuesdays and fridays which I hope would draw players to watch, learn and participate in one pocket matches, the Tuesday 10 ball handicapped and Friday night 8 ball for A-B-C players. The Friday tournament has been successful. This is an example of trying rather than not trying. Both tournaments were started at the beginning of nice weather. Enjoy your summer and come and participate when you have time. Thank you, from Jimmy and Lizel. P.S. To all players, reminding you of the $10 flat rate, Summer Special, play all you want and Jimmy is available for question and answer while you practice.

David(not Buzz ;) ),

I didn't know you were talking about the 10-ball tournament. I thought you were referring to the 1-Pocket event that is running all summer. I personally think that 10-Ball tournaments are ahead of their time. Heck, even the pool room juggernaut CR Billiards couldn't make a weekly 10-Ball tournament work. I don't think they tried it in the summer either.

P.S. There's only one slot left for next week! Josh has snagged the coveted prime time 9 p.m. Friday night fight slot. Who's gonna step up and be the under-card?

Edit: Bob Bartlett stepped up. Thank you sir.
