Yeah the payouts were very poor this year. Last year we won 900 this year we got 600 and got the same place in team. Singles payouts were OK.

Also $25 for table time is outrageous. All the money goes to the tables. It should be $10 for singles and $10 for team like BCA. Why should the masters pay more for table time? The race is longer but they play fewer matches so there are fewer games.

If you include the green fees in there was no money added to the event, actually there was less payed out than the players payed for entry.

The more I think about it perhaps it was donated to the tourament? So it wouldnt quite be the equivilent of $7,000, just taking a guess here? just seems kind of random to add a 4 wheeler to a pool touranement..

I want the ATV. I woulda rode it home....right down the soo line trail. :D at least part way home...

For most people, they have little chance of even cashing, so why not give someone a prize. In fact, why don't they give away more prizes.....

I think the guy that won the ATV may have also cashed in the AA Team. I think there are mixed feelings about the payouts. I played in the A team and was fortunate to get 13th-16th for a $500.00 payout. We were happy about that but disappointed to get knocked out. I just noticed that the team that beat us, had 2 AA players in the singles. 1 placed in the top 5. However we know these guys and they're a great group. We can't blame it on them that we blew a 23 ball lead going into the 4th round. However, the next 4 rounds were only worth $50.00 a pop. The ones probably most disappointed was the top finisher only getting $1000.00. This was a very tough tournament to win for only $1000.00. I noticed quite a few teams in the A with 3 known League level Master's on them. Alot of sandbagging going on but doubt that many of these teams would have had much of a chance of going deep in the AA as I watched many of those matches also. Lots of goose eggs on the card. An apology should be threaded to the Boss Belly Dumpers for making such a big deal about their team. They had their hands full and didn't even cash and I didn't even think they played bad at the ones I watched. One of the members of my team played in the B. He said as he was warming up for the singles, he thought he heard the guys next to him say they won the A team last year but were all playing in the B. I doubt any 3 true B players would win the A from what I seen. I hope they get the ranking system straightened out by next year and clear up all the gray areas. The League Directors should ask for input from the player's immediately and get the process started. Look forward to next year in the Twin Cities. Congrats to all who cashed. Fun had by all.

I think you would be hard-pressed to find many people who think the payouts were on par with the entry fee and amount of players. There were 105 teams in the B. That makes the prize fund $18,900, and that does not include the $100/team in green fees. First place was $950. That is $190 per player. I ran into the team who placed first in A this year, and they were not too thrilled with the payout either.
We profited $200 per player last year for winning Master Teams. That doesn't even cover our expenses....and we won the tournament! The top two teams in masters from last year didn't even bother playing this year. What does that say?
I know running an event like this is not easy and there are expenses and such...but it sucks when nobody can cover their nut, unless they place high in singles.

I agree totally with Rossaroni from that angle. The mixed feelings I was noting is that my team had to be happy with the $500.00 we got by losing our 1st match and winning the next three before getting knocked out. There may have been a round bye also. I wouldn't doubt that people will want to know more facts next year before they put up the entry and high greens fees. That's why I noted that I hope they get started now to get this (ratings & payouts) figured out. With the trouble pool is in now, transparency needs to exist. There's alot of pool players with plenty of ideas to be considered.

Whether the 4 wheeler was donated or they paid for it, how does that relate to pool? Why not provide multiple pool related items instead. Like cues, cases, or just random cash drawings say five for $500 each. That way 5 people would've got something and covered their expenses at the same time. I know MIke said he would've offered lessons as a prize or how about the people doing the shirts and stuff offer team shirts to the winners either discounted or free. My team was lucky enough to finish 7th/8th in the A division and got $600 which with staying in the cheapest hotel in Duluth a few miles from the DECC 3 of us got enough to cover the hotel and the team entry fee. So just out singles and food/drink $. I think they paid back to far as the $50 jump in the payouts sure didn't make it matter much if you finished anywhere but first or out of the money once you were in the money.

It doesnt relate to pool..

but what Mike was saying, is why not add $7,000 instead of a $7,000 ATV? I thought maybe, the ATV was donated for free? Therefore, if that is true, there would not be $7,000 to add instead of an ATV?
