Derby City Classic tournament photos

The Derby City Classic had lots of things to watch. It is certain that
if you are watching a match or some gambling, you are missing out
on something at least as interesting somewhere else in the building.

The 2nd annual “Bob Jewett Straight Pool Challenge” got even better than last years event. It was moved into the main room which made high run attempts easier to keep an eye on. Mr. Jewett announced the run totals after each rack run, so spectators had the opportunity to applaud tough racks or significant runs. The format is an all offense high run challenge. Players start with 14 balls racked up and a free break with the break ball placed where they want and ball in hand. After the first break shot normal straight pool rules apply including all ball fouls. The contestants then try to put together the highest run total in 4 attempts per day. The top 8 finishers made it to the finals where they received 5 attempts.
