VNEA Update
The Valley 9 Ball didn’t go so hot for me. I was 1 and 1 in the main tournament and 1 and 1 in the single elimination sportsman’s division (I lost to a guy called Rex from Wyoming).
Saturday was a long day. My first match started at 9 a.m. I won that one, then lost, then won five more to make it to the redraw. In Valley, you have new life in the redraw. I also played two scotch matches, totaling NINE MATCHES that day. Unfortunately, I was pretty exhausted by our second scotch match. Neither Samm nor I were on top of our games and we lost our second match of the single elimination format. The first round of the scotch didn’t begin until 10:30 p.m. That was tough.
On Sunday, I lost my first match for the redraw 5-4, then won three more before getting eliminated from the tournament at 33rd-48th place. It paid $425.
The team event is starting this morning.
I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend!
Team Status entering day 3
Our team won an important match yesterday afternoon to make it to the final chart without a loss. 128 teams start a big day today. We hope to win 5 straight matches today.
Team status after Day 1 - BCAPL 2008
Our team from Denver named “Mark it, Dude” is off to a great start. We won our first three matches Wednesday by scores of 13-2, 13-4, and 13-8. Everyone is hitting the ball great and we are in good spirits. Our first match today is at 4:30 pm and I think if we win we’ll be in the final 128 team chart on the right side of the bracket. This is a big match which could put us in a good position for the frantic Friday/Saturday scramble for the title. It is important to keep winning matches in a field of 700+ teams! More info later after the match.
